We see headlines like this all.the.time on social media (especially Pinterest).  I have to admit they catch my eye and I click.  And I read, again and again, the business stories of how people have made huge profits teaching mostly about blogging, creating webinars, podcasts, etc.  My story is different.  One of the biggest differences is that I have made almost all of my sales selling educational resources for teachers, parents and pediatric therapists.  Here is how I sold over one million dollars worth of digital products

In reality, I guess there is more to the story but not much more.  First and foremost, please understand that I truly mean that I have been successful because of hard work and being consistent.  I have been working on my business and creating content while raising 6 children with my husband at the same time.

If you are an entrepreneur, you know there are days where it is tough regardless of your personal life.  No one else does the job for you.  You focus all of your energy on improving what you are creating.  That is truly how I have done it.

All the way back in 2007, I started my first website, Your Therapy Source.  At first, my goal was to be a marketplace to sell pediatric therapy equipment and supplies.  On a whim, I created some digital forms to sell to my customers.  I put them up for sale on ebay (at that time you could list digital products on ebay) and they sold like crazy at a high price.  I began writing articles for the website but didn’t have a blog yet.  Finally, I started a blog on Google blogspot and then would create links to sell on the website.  It was clunky but it worked.  It worked for years like that.

Customers began to know me, like what I provided and trust me.  I created more products and LOVED every minute of product creation.  Sales were always increasing each year – 10-30% or more.

So I started another website – Growing Play.   I had loads of ideas in my head for content creation and needed a place to sell it to a different customer market.

For all three of my websites, I do not have any advertising, therefore, just about all of my profits are from selling and promoting digital content.

Trust me, when I say it was hard work but enjoyable.  I worked late at night when the babies were in bed, early in the morning and nap time.  For a while, I was working outside the home as a Physical Therapist, and still running the websites.  Growing Play took a back burner for some time but still generating small amounts of income when I did nothing for it.  Your Therapy Source became my main focus as the sales continue to improve.

It requires me to consistently create content, answer emails and stay up to date on the latest online trends (otherwise known as time suckers to me).  My business model works – show up and provide valuable content to my readers.

Over the past 10+ years, I have sold over one million dollars of digital products.  Not as exciting when you hear it took over 10 years huh?

It is Not Just About the Money

It may have taken me 10+ years, but it has provided so much value to me beyond monetary gain.  Has it afforded our family to not struggle each month to pay expenses? Absolutely!  Has it allowed us to take vacations or eat out more often?  Yes for sure! Does it now allow us to help pay for college tuition?  100% true!

But it has also provided me with a creative outlet to maintain my sanity while being a stay at home mother which is something very important to me.  It has made me feel valued because we all know motherhood can be a super, underappreciated job title.

And today, it has created a career for me.  I no longer provide direct Physical Therapy because managing the websites require more of my time and in all honesty are much more profitable.

I am super passionate about educating others on the benefits of selling digital content no matter what their niche.
